Top 10 Budget Cabin Suitcases Under £100

A practical UK shortlist built around the real selling price, usable features and the cabin-size catches that can cost more later.

Research-led selection10 exact modelsUK item prices / checked Oct 2026

The best budget cabin suitcases under £100 are not necessarily the ones with the biggest sale sticker. A case has to fit the allowance you have bought, carry the things you really need and offer a sensible balance of weight, access and cost. A cheap purchase can become an expensive mistake when a few extra centimetres mean it cannot travel as planned.

This UK buying guide compares ten separately identified models. The item prices shown were checked on 1 October 2026 and are below £100 without relying on a membership, a multi-buy offer or a discount code. Delivery and airline baggage charges are separate unless explicitly stated. A retailer listing is not a guarantee of stock when you reach checkout.

Our recommendations are research-led. We have compared official product information and current public selling prices, not conducted hands-on durability testing. Where a specification is ambiguous, the uncertainty is shown rather than silently replaced with a convenient number.

How we selected the ten cases

What counts as under £100

Each selection had a publicly displayed individual-case price below £100 at the check date. We did not divide a set price by the number of cases or use a members-only reduction. The checked colour and size are recorded because a different option may cost more. Sale prices are snapshots, not predictions.

How we compared value

The editorial order starts with broadly useful 20cm-deep options, then adds genuinely different formats and features. We considered closed dimensions, listed weight, access, wheel format, useful hardware and price. There are no invented test scores. Two cases from the same brand are included only when their construction or use case differs, not just because they come in different colours.

What a cheap case still has to do

A low price does not excuse the wrong dimensions, a handle you cannot use comfortably or an unclear purchase variant. Equally, an expensive-sounding shell name is not proof of better performance. Treat this list as a shortlist for verification, not a promise that a case will survive a stated number of flights. An airline allowance and retailer return terms deserve the same attention as the product itself.

Compare budget cabin suitcases under £100

Compare the exact version, not just the collection name. Dimensions below are the published closed external measurements; capacities are the brands’ stated figures, not results from a common measuring test.

The cut-off applies to the individual item price, not delivery or airline baggage charges. No discount code or membership is required for the prices shown. Verify the selected option again at checkout.

Dimension fit is not fare entitlement or a guarantee of acceptance. The comparison uses published measurements and the current airline limits; check the packed case and your own booking. [11][12]

* M&S lists 2.6kg for the cabin component in the matching Geneva set, but the individual case page uses an inconsistent weight unit. Confirm the weight with M&S if it affects your choice. [9][13]

The ten suitcase recommendations

1. Tripp Holiday 8 Cabin 55cm

Exact version: Dark Sea Blue; item 46503

2.7kg listed weight | 55 x 40 x 20cm closed | 35 L | Polypropylene [1]

Holiday 8 is our first comparison point for an occasional traveller who wants a straightforward hard-sided cabin case. The checked Dark Sea Blue version combines a polypropylene shell, a 20cm listed depth, double wheels and a TSA-compatible combination lock. Tripp lists a 35-litre capacity and a 2.7kg empty weight. [1]

Its attraction is the package of useful features at the checked selling price, rather than the size of the advertised discount. However, it is not an ultra-light choice. Under a hypothetical 7kg limit, the case would leave 4.3kg for contents. Start here for clothing-led short breaks; compare the lighter Rejoy when weight is more important. Do not assume the same sale price applies to another colour, another size or a later date. [1]

Why shortlist it

Useful hard-case specification at a low checked price.

Main compromise

2.7kg uses a noticeable share of a tight weight allowance.

Best lighter hard-sided upgrade

2. American Tourister Rejoy 55cm

Exact version: Electric Yellow; 153176-0493

2.4kg listed weight | 55 x 40 x 20cm closed | 35 L | Polypropylene [2]

Rejoy is the option to investigate when you can spend more of the budget to reduce empty weight. Its listed 2.4kg is 300g below the Holiday 8, while the published external dimensions remain 55 x 40 x 20cm. American Tourister specifies a polypropylene shell, a 35-litre capacity and an integrated combination lock. [2]

That is a modest but real weight difference, not a dramatic transformation in packing freedom. Consider whether your actual clothes and electronics need that headroom before paying more. The model also has a straightforward split interior with cross-ribbons and a divider. We have not performed wheel, zip or drop testing on either case, so the upgrade recommendation is about the documented specification rather than an independently proven improvement in longevity. [2]

Why shortlist it

A 2.4kg hard shell within the checked budget.

Main compromise

Costs more than several serviceable-looking alternatives here.

Best organised split interior

3. Cabin Max Anode 40L

Exact version: Bodo Green; 55 x 40 x 20cm

2.8kg listed weight | 55 x 40 x 20cm closed | 40 L stated | ABS [3]

The Anode 40L is a useful option for travellers who prefer clearly separated packing areas. Cabin Max describes an ABS shell, a split interior, zipped dividers and several smaller pockets. The checked 55 x 40 x 20cm version is listed at 2.8kg, so its appeal is organisation and price rather than minimum weight. [3]

Be careful with the Anode family name: the smaller underseat versions and the larger checked cases are not interchangeable. Also, the quoted 40-litre capacity is a manufacturer figure, not a measurement we have independently compared with every other case. Choose this model when you will genuinely use its compartments. Otherwise, a simpler interior may be easier to pack, and fewer separate zipped spaces can make the unpacking routine less fiddly. [3]

Why shortlist it

Several internal sections for organised packing.

Main compromise

One of the heavier cases in this selection.

Best low-cost fabric option

4. it Luggage Duo-Tone Cabin

Exact version: Capri Breeze / Dress Blues; cabin

2.32kg listed weight | 55 x 38 x 20cm closed | 35 L | Soft-sided fabric [4]

Duo-Tone is worth a look when a front pocket is more useful than a hard shell. Its two external pockets give documents and a light layer a separate place, while the published 2.32kg empty weight is lower than most of the hard cases in this budget list. The listed exterior is 55 x 38 x 20cm. [4]

For a value-focused buyer, the main question is whether those pockets help your routine without encouraging overpacking. Put bulky items in them and the practical depth can grow. Therefore, measure the fully packed case before removing tags or taking it outdoors. The softer body also does not remove the need to protect fragile contents. We favour this model for a simple clothing kit, not as evidence that inexpensive fabric luggage will last a particular number of trips. [4]

Why shortlist it

Low listed weight and accessible front storage.

Main compromise

Soft pockets need a packed-size check.

Best low-cost two-wheel alternative

5. Aerolite AERO9639 Expandable Two-Wheel Cabin

Exact version: Black; 55 x 40 x 20cm version

2.45kg listed weight | 55 x 40 x 20cm closed | 42 / 48 L stated | Soft-sided polyester [5]

This Aerolite is the two-wheel alternative for someone who prefers a case that is towed behind them. The checked listing gives a 2.45kg weight, external dimensions including the wheels, front pockets and expansion from 20cm to 23cm. That combination makes it a useful comparison against budget spinners rather than simply another hard-case lookalike. [5]

However, read the product name carefully because the brand sells several similar sizes and bundles. Buy the individual 55 x 40 x 20cm case, not a multi-case offer or an underseat model with a similar picture. Keep it unexpanded when a 20cm limit applies. We have not tested the wheels on rough pavements, and the format alone is not proof of superior durability. Check handle comfort using your intended load. [5]

Why shortlist it

Two-wheel towing and clearly stated closed dimensions.

Main compromise

Expansion increases depth beyond a 20cm allowance.

Best simple fabric spinner

6. Tripp Superlite 4W Cabin

Exact version: Black; item 46583

2.6kg listed weight | 55 x 40 x 20cm closed | 31 L | Recycled-PET fabric [6]

Superlite 4W gives you a different Tripp option when you prefer fabric luggage and a simpler interior. The manufacturer lists packing straps, a mesh pocket, double wheels and a separate padlock with keys. Its quoted capacity is 31 litres, which is less than several other entries but may be enough for a deliberately small packing list. [6]

Despite its name, the listed weight is 2.6kg. Therefore, it belongs in a budget comparison, not a guide that promises every suitcase is below 2.5kg. It is worth considering when the fit, format and current price suit you. Compare its key-operated lock with your preference for an integrated combination lock, and avoid choosing it solely because the name sounds lighter. Product names are marketing; the specification is the useful number. [6]

Why shortlist it

An uncomplicated fabric case with a 20cm listed depth.

Main compromise

2.6kg despite the Superlite name; smaller quoted capacity.

Best plain low-cost hard case

7. it Luggage Modify Cabin

Exact version: Black; suitcase only, no personalised panel

2.8kg listed weight | 55 x 39.5 x 20cm closed | 33 L | ABS [7]

The basic Modify cabin case offers a straightforward ABS clamshell, packing straps and a zippered compartment. Its checked dimensions are 55 x 39.5 x 20cm and its stated weight is 2.8kg. The price used here is for the suitcase itself, without the optional personalised front panel. [7]

That distinction matters because the page also offers panels and case-plus-panel combinations. A panel-only price is not a suitcase price, while an added panel changes both the amount paid and the item you are carrying. For a practical budget purchase, start with the plain case and decide whether personalisation solves anything useful. An ordinary luggage tag may already do the job. Avoid assuming that a customised order has the same change-of-mind return conditions as a standard case. [7]

Why shortlist it

Clear basic hard-case option without optional extras.

Main compromise

Heavy relative to the lighter fabric alternatives.

Best optional charging-port feature

8. Flight Knight CURVE 55cm

Exact version: Anthracite; FK98 55 x 40 x 20cm

2.7kg listed weight | 55 x 40 x 20cm closed | 36 L | ABS hard shell; PC also listed in materials [8]

CURVE adds a USB-A charging port to a familiar 55 x 40 x 20cm hard-case format. Flight Knight lists 2.7kg, a 36-litre capacity, spinner wheels and a combination lock. Its description identifies an ABS shell, while the materials specification also mentions polycarbonate; no precise blend is stated, so we do not present it as a full-polycarbonate case. [8]

The port is a convenience feature, not a battery: the listing requires your own power bank. That extra purchase and weight belong in your decision. Also check your airline’s current battery rules, particularly if the suitcase might be put in the hold. Buy it because the overall size and layout suit you; do not pay for a charging feature you would never use when a separate power bank already serves your needs. [8]

Why shortlist it

A charging connection for travellers who will use it.

Main compromise

A power bank is additional, and battery rules still apply.

Best roomier high-street option

9. M&S Geneva Four-Wheel Soft Cabin

Exact version: Black; T407031L

2.6kg* matching-set figure | 56 x 34.5 x 24cm closed | 40 L in matching set specification | Polyester [9]

Geneva is the more generous fabric shape for a traveller whose booked allowance permits it. M&S lists a 56 x 34.5 x 24cm exterior, front storage, an expansion feature and a TSA-compatible lock. It is not a substitute for a 55 x 40 x 20cm case: both its height and depth exceed that smaller outline. [9]

There is also a specification caveat worth making visible. The individual page has an inconsistent weight unit; the matching Geneva set page states 2.6kg for its cabin case. Confirm that figure with M&S when empty weight is decisive. We include it for the larger eligible cabin-bag use case, not for universal airline compatibility. Check the expanded measurement separately, because the closed 24cm depth already leaves little room within a 25cm allowance. [9]

Weight is cross-referenced to the matching set, not independently verified for this individual listing. [9][13]

Why shortlist it

Accessible soft-case layout for a larger permitted allowance.

Main compromise

Too tall and deep for 55 x 40 x 20cm; weight needs confirmation.

Best wheel-brake feature

10. Rock Resilient Small

Exact version: Charcoal; small

2.6kg listed weight | 55 x 37.5 x 24cm closed | 35 / 40 L | Polypropylene [10]

Resilient is a feature-led option rather than the smallest or cheapest case here. Rock lists suspension wheels with brakes, a polypropylene shell, an integrated lock and expansion from 24cm to 27cm deep. The brakes may be useful when you want a spinner to stay still, although we have not independently assessed their holding performance. [10]

The size warning is central to the recommendation. A 24cm-deep case does not meet a 20cm limit, and its expanded size is larger again. Choose it only for an allowance that genuinely fits its closed measurements or for non-flight use. Even then, do not leave luggage unattended because the wheels have brakes. This is a practical feature to compare, not proof that the case is safer or more durable than every simpler alternative. [10]

Why shortlist it

Listed wheel brakes and suspension below the budget cap.

Main compromise

24cm closed depth limits route flexibility.

Fit, packing and buying checks

Separate item cost from trip cost

As a dated example, the checked Tripp Holiday 8 item price was £42, with standard home delivery of £4.49 below the retailer’s free-delivery threshold: £46.49 before any airline baggage charge. Those figures were checked on 1 October 2026. Other retailers and postcodes can differ. Do not add an unwanted accessory merely to make delivery free. [1]

Check the entitlement, not a cabin-friendly label

Ryanair’s Priority overhead allowance is currently 55 x 40 x 20cm and 10kg; the included small bag is 40 x 30 x 20cm. easyJet allows an included 45 x 36 x 20cm underseat bag, while a booked or eligible large cabin bag can be 56 x 45 x 25cm and up to 15kg. Checked 1 October 2026. These suitcases are overhead-sized choices, not free-underseat recommendations. [11][12]

Three cost components: the individual case, delivery and the cabin baggage allowance.
The item price is only one part of the amount needed to take a suitcase on a trip.Original illustration created for Travel Gear.

Match the larger cases to the right route

Geneva’s stated 56 x 34.5 x 24cm shape and Resilient’s 55 x 37.5 x 24cm closed shape fit within easyJet’s published large-bag dimensions, but that does not mean the large-bag allowance is included in your fare. Neither meets a 55 x 40 x 20cm limit. Rock’s expanded 27cm depth is larger than easyJet’s 25cm limit too. [9][10][12]

Inspect before the first journey

Keep tags and packaging while you inspect the case indoors. Zip it without forcing the corners, extend and retract the handle, check wheel alignment and pack a realistic load. Measure again with pockets filled and handles folded away. Photograph a defect promptly and follow the retailer’s stated return process. A long warranty is not the same thing as a promise to replace ordinary wear or every incident of airline damage.

Pros and cons

Where budget cases can make sense

An occasional traveller can prioritise the right shape and useful basics without paying for features they will not use. This shortlist covers fabric, hard shells, integrated locks, separate padlocks and two-wheel towing. A smaller upfront cost also makes it easier to avoid overspending before you know your preferred packing routine.

What the price does not establish

A bargain does not prove poor quality, and a higher price does not prove long life. We have not tested the wheel bearings, seam strength or shell impact performance. Some options are heavier, some have smaller interiors, and some qualify as cabin cases only for larger allowances. Those compromises should be chosen knowingly.

Common mistakes to avoid

Comparing against the crossed-out price

Compare what you will pay today with realistic alternatives. A large percentage discount does not automatically make a case better value.

Buying a panel, set or wrong size

Modify panels are sold separately, and several retailers mix cabin, medium and large sizes on one page. Check the basket line before paying.

Calling every 55cm case airline-compatible

Depth is often the deciding dimension. A 24cm-deep case can be sold as cabin luggage while failing a 20cm sizer.

Spending the last of the budget on unnecessary extras

A charging port needs a separate power bank; personalisation and rushed delivery also cost money. Add only the extras that solve an actual problem for your trip.

Frequently asked questions

Which budget suitcase would you compare first?

For a hard shell, start with Holiday 8 and Rejoy, then decide whether the lower price or lower empty weight matters more. For fabric, compare Duo-Tone with Superlite. These are research-led starting points rather than hands-on winners. The right final choice still depends on your measured packing list and booked cabin allowance.

Are all ten cases below £100 including delivery?

The selection rule is the individual item price before delivery and airline charges. Every checked item price was below £100 on 1 October 2026, but postcode, service level and later price changes can affect the checkout total. The comparison does not promise free delivery or an all-in trip price.

Can a cheap cabin suitcase avoid baggage fees?

Not by itself. A suitcase can fit an airline’s larger cabin dimensions while still needing an additional allowance. None of these models fits the small included underseat size for both Ryanair and easyJet. Check what your ticket includes before buying a case on the assumption that cabin-sized means free. [11][12]

Why are two larger cases in the list?

The Geneva and Resilient offer different layouts and features for travellers with a larger permitted allowance. Their deeper dimensions are shown prominently. They are not recommended for a 20cm limit, and including them is not a claim that one cabin size is accepted everywhere.

Does a TSA-compatible lock make the case theft-proof?

No small luggage lock should be treated as a guarantee against theft. It can keep ordinary zip access controlled, but it is not a substitute for keeping important items close and attending to the bag. Choose the lock type for your routine rather than assuming a familiar label makes a suitcase secure in every situation.

Should I pay more for a lighter suitcase?

Only when the saving solves a real packing problem. In this list, the Rejoy is 300g lighter than Holiday 8 on the published figures. Compare that benefit with the price difference at checkout and with items you could leave at home. Under a generous allowance, a modestly heavier case may be a perfectly reasonable choice.

Is the Geneva weight definitely 2.6kg?

M&S gives 2.6kg for the cabin case in the matching Geneva set, while the individual-case page shows an inconsistent unit. We have made that discrepancy visible rather than claiming an independent weighing. Ask the retailer to confirm the exact unit before purchasing when weight is a deciding factor. [13]

Our final recommendation

For an occasional short-break traveller, Holiday 8 is the clearest low-cost hard-case starting point from this research. Duo-Tone is the fabric alternative when front access and a lower stated weight matter more. Choose Aerolite for a deliberate preference for two wheels, and consider Rejoy when reducing the empty weight is worth spending more of the budget.

Keep Geneva and Resilient for journeys that permit their larger depth. Before paying, check the exact variant, delivery total and baggage entitlement, then keep the tags while you inspect the case. The best budget purchase is the one that fits both the trip and the amount you intended to spend, not simply the cheapest product on a search page.
